The Rock to Rock Earth Day ride is an annual fund-raising event to support any and all "green" causes in New Haven and the surrounding area. It has grown over the years and now takes in roughly $200,000 in donations overall, which gets fully distributed directly to a number of very worth causes. We hope to see that number grow, as there are a number of worthy causes and that money gets quickly consumed.
The organization that I support is called Massaro Community Farm, which is a non-profit farm that has preserved and beautified 57 acres of space just outside of New Haven, of which about 10-12 acres is actively farmed with the rest being preserved as open space. The farming operation annually donates a good portion of its organic vegetable crop to local charities who provide healthy fresh food to needy people. Last year, the farm donated 10,000 pounds of fresh produce, and it has donated over 50,000 pounds since its inception. In addition, the farm sponsors a number of educational and community-focused events and programs, serving nearby communities.
Other than sending shameless funding requests, my wife Caty and I participate in both the organization of this event and as riders. And to be completely honest, Caty is the Executive Director of Massaro Community Farm, so my life will be considerably easier if I do a decent job raising funds. So whether you'd like to make my life easier, or if you just relish the thought that your contribution will have this 65-year old man grunting and sweating my way on a bike for 20 to 40 miles on April 27, here's your chance to make it happen! Just click on the link below, which will lead you to my fund-raising page where you can feel free to leave as much as you'd like!
Thanks in advance for your generous donation. It's 100% tax deductible, and goes to support a great cause.
