Friends! On April 27, 2019, Vivian and I will be in the Rock to Rock Earth Day Ride, riding with about 1,000 friends and neighbors in the greater New Haven area to create a greener, healthier, more just climate, and raising funds for our work at Massaro Community Farm. 2018 was Vivian's first ride, she loved it, and is excited for more. Here are a couple photos from last year:
This is a major fundraiser for us. You can help us make a difference for those in need. Thank you for supporting us on our ride for Massaro Community Farm!
WHY Support Massaro Farm?
The Massaro board, staff, and dedicated volunteers have resurrected a derelict farm with broken-down buildings and depleted soils to a state of beauty with restored structures, productive fields, and abundant organic produce. The farm has received national acclaim.
We are succeeding in our three-part Mission: Keep Farming, Feed People, Build Community
With your help we can continue our good work at Massaro Community Farm (MCF) which began as a non-profit in 2008. Since then, with a bare-bones staff, we have:
Established an ecological, organic farming operation, with nearly 10 acres under cultivation
Supported the establishment of four school gardens in area schools with accompanying nutrition education In partnership with FoodCorps
Restored an historic Massaro farmhouse, dating back to the 1850s, renovated the two-story gambrel dairy barn, and salvaged a 1931 stone barn
Donated over 60,000 pounds of fresh organic produce to local hunger relief organizations since our first year of growing in 2010
