Please help me raise funds for the Urban Resources Initiative (URI) to transform communities through urban greening. All donations are 100% tax deductible and go toward URI's Greenspace and GreenSkills programs.
I love URI because in the process of planting trees, building bioswales, and creating and maintaining public greenspaces, the work builds community, lifts hearts, and provides much needed job skills training to those who need it most. URI's GreenSkills program provides paid job skills training to teens and prison survivors through the planting of trees and construction of bioswales. URI's Community Greenspace program enables 50+ groups of neighbors volunteering to improve their local landscapes by providing all the tools, plants, mulch, etc., and technical assistance necessary to accomplish goals they set for themselves.
These greenspaces and trees are transformative for New Haven's neighborhoods. They provide clean air, shade, stormwater absorption, and beauty to our streetscapes. Through the power of working with neighbors, teens, and prison survivors, we can accomplish a great deal of positive change. Please support this cause with a donation today!
In full disclosure, Casey, Tusker and Haven will do the 5-mile ride on April 28. Anna's "ride" does not consist of the usual bike route. Rather, it is a year- long planning process through which she navigates with several other amazing Rock to Rock co-organizers! We cannot wait for April 28! (Hope to see you at the start and/or the finish!)
