Elm City Cycling began in 2003 as a loose-knit group, united by a desire to see the city of New Haven become more bicycle friendly. Since then, we have become an incorporated non-profit partnering with city officials, community groups, and civic organizations to help make our community's streets safer and more accessible for all users of non-motorized transportation. Our main focus areas are:
Advocacy: we advocate for the development of more comprehensive bicycle infrastructure such as bicycle parking and protected bike lanes.
Education: throughout the year, ECC members certified as League Cycling Instructors offer training in safe riding, both in formal classes as well as presentations to college students and community groups.
Community: ECC sponsors a number of events and rides each year and can usually be found at fairs and expos.
Please consider joining our team, either as a rider or a volunteer!
